Filters and Airflow

A dirty or unsuitable filter can restrict airflow, reduce comfort, and place unnecessary strain on the blower and heat pump.

We inspect the filter, blower, supply airflow, return-air pathway, and accessible duct connections. If the filter needs replacement, we recommend the correct size and type for the system.

Good airflow is essential in both heating and cooling modes.

Indoor and Outdoor Coils

The indoor and outdoor coils transfer heat during system operation. Dirt and debris can interfere with that process and reduce performance.

We inspect the coils and clean accessible areas when included in the approved maintenance scope. We also check the outdoor unit for leaves, vegetation, dirt, or other obstructions that may limit airflow.

Any significant coil damage or refrigerant-related concern is reported separately.

Electrical Components and Controls

Heat pumps rely on electrical connections, capacitors, contactors, motors, control boards, and safety devices.

Our technician inspects accessible electrical components, looks for loose or damaged connections, and checks the system’s startup and operating sequence. We also verify that the equipment switches correctly between heating and cooling modes.

Electrical repairs are explained and priced before additional work begins.

Refrigerant and System Performance

Incorrect refrigerant charge or a refrigerant leak can affect heating, cooling, energy use, and compressor operation.

During maintenance, we evaluate system performance and look for signs of a refrigerant problem. Refrigerant should not be added automatically without determining why the charge is low.

If further leak detection or repair is needed, we explain the recommended next step.

Thermostat and Drainage

The thermostat must communicate properly with the heat pump and any auxiliary heating equipment. We verify thermostat operation, temperature response, and system controls.

During cooling operation, the heat pump also produces condensation. We inspect accessible drain components for signs of blockage, leakage, or standing water that could lead to shutdowns or property damage.
