Thermostat & Control Troubleshooting

Thermostat setup, calibration and control checks so the system responds properly in heating and cooling modes.

Preventive Heat Pump Maintenance Across Temecula

A heat pump works throughout the year because it provides both heating and cooling. That extended operating schedule means the equipment may accumulate more runtime than a system used during only one season.

Dust, restricted airflow, dirty coils, loose electrical connections, incorrect controls, and drainage problems can gradually reduce performance. In some cases, the system continues operating while using more energy or placing additional strain on major components.
Advanced Heating & Air Conditioning provides preventive heat pump maintenance throughout Temecula and nearby Riverside County communities. During the visit, our technician evaluates the indoor and outdoor equipment, checks system operation, and looks for developing issues that may affect comfort, safety, or reliability.

Routine service does not guarantee that a heat pump will never need repair. However, it can help catch small concerns earlier, support proper operation, and prepare the system for seasonal temperature changes.

Signs Your Heat Pump Needs Maintenance

Do not wait for a complete breakdown. Schedule heat pump service if you notice:
A maintenance visit can identify worn, dirty, or poorly performing components before they develop into larger repair problems.

Residential and Commercial Heat Pump Maintenance

We maintain heat pump systems for residential and commercial properties throughout Temecula.

Residential Heat Pump Maintenance

For houses, condos, townhomes, and residential rental properties, regular maintenance helps prepare the heat pump for both summer cooling and cooler-season heating.

Our technician checks the system’s operating condition, airflow, thermostat, electrical components, coils, drainage, and other accessible parts. We also inspect the filter and explain whether replacement is needed.

If we identify a repair issue, we explain the problem and provide pricing before completing additional work.

Commercial Heat Pump Maintenance

Commercial heat pumps may operate for longer hours and serve spaces with changing occupancy, equipment loads, and comfort requirements.

We maintain heat pump systems for offices, retail spaces, managed properties, and other commercial buildings. Maintenance can be coordinated with the owner or property manager to reduce disruption to normal business operations.

Regular service can also help businesses identify developing HVAC issues before they lead to unexpected comfort interruptions.

What We Check During Heat Pump Maintenance

Filters and Airflow

A dirty or unsuitable filter can restrict airflow, reduce comfort, and place unnecessary strain on the blower and heat pump.

We inspect the filter, blower, supply airflow, return-air pathway, and accessible duct connections. If the filter needs replacement, we recommend the correct size and type for the system.

Good airflow is essential in both heating and cooling modes.

Indoor and Outdoor Coils

The indoor and outdoor coils transfer heat during system operation. Dirt and debris can interfere with that process and reduce performance.

We inspect the coils and clean accessible areas when included in the approved maintenance scope. We also check the outdoor unit for leaves, vegetation, dirt, or other obstructions that may limit airflow.

Any significant coil damage or refrigerant-related concern is reported separately.

Electrical Components and Controls

Heat pumps rely on electrical connections, capacitors, contactors, motors, control boards, and safety devices.

Our technician inspects accessible electrical components, looks for loose or damaged connections, and checks the system’s startup and operating sequence. We also verify that the equipment switches correctly between heating and cooling modes.

Electrical repairs are explained and priced before additional work begins.

Refrigerant and System Performance

Incorrect refrigerant charge or a refrigerant leak can affect heating, cooling, energy use, and compressor operation.

During maintenance, we evaluate system performance and look for signs of a refrigerant problem. Refrigerant should not be added automatically without determining why the charge is low.

If further leak detection or repair is needed, we explain the recommended next step.

Thermostat and Drainage

The thermostat must communicate properly with the heat pump and any auxiliary heating equipment. We verify thermostat operation, temperature response, and system controls.

During cooling operation, the heat pump also produces condensation. We inspect accessible drain components for signs of blockage, leakage, or standing water that could lead to shutdowns or property damage.

Keep Your Heat Pump Ready for Every Season

Your heat pump works through both warm and cool weather. Routine maintenance helps prepare it for seasonal demand and gives you an opportunity to address developing issues before they become unexpected breakdowns.
Advanced Heating & Air Conditioning will inspect your system, complete the approved maintenance tasks, and explain any recommendations clearly.

First of all, The lady that took my call was knowledgeable about HVAC. I had an email for the booking and to confirm the next day appointment with the time. Matthew showed up right on time. I explained the situation to him and he went over the unit to check for issues. Unit was good, He went into the attic to go thru the whole system to check for shorts ,breaks etc. The issue was the condensate drain thingy was not draining and it tripped a safety shut off and shut down the system. Had the drain cleared out and am now enjoying the a/c again. ZERO UPSELLING, everything was explained to me what and why it happened. This is the company you want to call when your AC dies. The work was priced fairly and Matthew actually knows his trade. I will share this service company with my neighbors.

FAQs About Heat Pump Maintenance in Temecula

A: A heat pump should receive professional maintenance at least once each year. Because it provides both heating and cooling, some property owners schedule service before each major operating season. The appropriate schedule may depend on system age, usage, manufacturer recommendations, and maintenance-plan requirements.
A: A typical tune-up may include inspecting the filter, coils, blower, airflow, thermostat, drainage, electrical components, refrigerant performance, and heating and cooling operation. The exact scope should be confirmed when scheduling because cleaning, repairs, replacement filters, and specialized diagnostic work may be priced separately.
A: A standard HVAC maintenance visit usually takes approximately one to two hours. The actual time depends on the number of systems, accessibility, equipment condition, and whether additional diagnostic work is needed.
A: Maintenance can help correct conditions such as dirty filters, obstructed coils, poor airflow, or control problems that cause the system to work harder than necessary. Actual energy savings vary and cannot be guaranteed because utility costs are also affected by weather, thermostat settings, insulation, duct leakage, equipment age, and household usage.
A: Yes. New heat pumps still require filter care, inspection, cleaning, and professional service. Following the manufacturer’s maintenance requirements may also be important for preserving warranty eligibility. Keep service records and follow the instructions provided for your specific equipment.
